We are looking for a motivated and capable Assistant Accountant, ideally someone mid-way through a CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualification, to join our finance team on an initial 12-month fixed-term basis. The role is designed to provide extra capacity and support our month-end processes, billing, deferred income, tax reporting and audit readiness. There is potential for this role to be converted to a permanent position.

What you'll be doing:

  • Assist with month-end close: prepare and post accruals, prepayments, deferred income, deferred/ accrued income, and other adjusting journal entries.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations (e.g. cash, deferred income/liabilities, accruals, other control accounts) to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day billing and usage-based billing processes, raise invoices, manage deferred/recognised income appropriately, and ensure billing integrity.
  • Preparation of commission statements based on billing data.
  • Support all sales and use tax reporting requirements; work under the guidance of the Financial Controller to ensure compliance.
  • Support audit process (audit due in late January): providing supporting schedules and workpapers to auditors; act as a key liaison between finance team and auditors.
  • Maintain accurate records: journals, reconciliations, documentation of deferred income, usage billing, commission calculations, tax submissions, audit schedules.
  • Provide general accounting support to finance team, helping absorb overflow capacity, including ad-hoc tasks, data entry, ledger maintenance, and assisting with other finance functions as required.

Who we are looking for:

  • Part-qualified (or studying) towards CIMA, ACCA or ACA , combining commitment to qualification and a strong foundation in accounting theory.
  • Previous exposure to month-end accounting routines: accruals/prepayments, reconciliations, deferred income / deferred/deferred revenue or similar.
  • Comfortable working with journal entries, general ledger, reconciliations and reporting under tight deadlines.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills; proficient with Excel (and ideally experience with accounting software / ERP systems).
  • Detail-oriented, organised, methodical. You should be able to manage multiple concurrent tasks, maintain control-account accuracy, and ensure compliance.
  • Good communication, ability to collaborate with senior finance staff, explain accounting treatments, respond to auditor queries, and work cross-functionally (e.g. sales / operations if needed).
  • Flexible, can handle busy periods (e.g. end-of-period close and audit season) and willing to work in a dynamic, evolving environment.
